We Aim to Build a Better World

Our Mission

Over the past decade, Blue Sky Solar Co has been instrumental in the advancement of the solar industry within the Midwest. We pride ourselves on being innovators in the industry and dedicate ourselves to education and training on the newest technology and incentives. We are grateful for the opportunity to support our communities with their solar initiatives. Our commitment to the larger solar community is displayed through our relationships and reputation in the industry.

Barney Grobstick, President

With his extensive background spanning over three decades in the electrical industry and nine years dedicated to the dynamic world of solar energy, he has been a pivotal figure in our local solar industry. He has notably provided electrical expertise to numerous reputable solar installers in the area. Barney's journey began at the University of Iowa and evolved from the role of a parts delivery person to local electrical contractor ownership. He orchestrated the remarkable growth of the business, taking it from a team of nine journeymen to its current standing as one of the largest electrical contractors in the Midwest. As a distinguished local authority in all things electrical and solar, Barney's knowledge and experience are invaluable in steering Blue Sky Solar Co towards a prosperous future as our President.

Tyler Billmeyer, Vice President

Tyler Billmeyer brings over 18 years of comprehensive experience in sales and management, with a dedicated decade focused on advancing the solar industry. As a founder of Midwest Solar Services and an owner of Blue Sky Solar Co, Tyler has actively contributed to the evolution of the renewable energy landscape. Before becoming an integral part of the Blue Sky Solar Co and Midwest Solar Services teams, he held a prominent position as a leading sales representative for a respected local solar installer in Iowa. Throughout his career, Tyler has engaged in extensive solar consultations, positively impacting the lives of thousands.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Tyler proudly serves as the Chief Operations Officer on the executive board of the Avery Foundation—a non-profit organization committed to raising funds and writing grants for cancer patients, specifically addressing unexpected financial burdens faced by patients and their families.

Until his most recent term was up, Tyler served as Vice President to a local non-profit called Midwest Freeriders, which is a youth ski and snowboard club geared toward freeride and terrain park instruction to encourage and support the same passion he enjoyed as a kid into today’s youth.

At Blue Sky Solar Co, Tyler's commitment goes beyond solar solutions; it extends to making a meaningful difference in the community and beyond. He looks forward to continuing this journey of innovation, sustainability, and philanthropy.
